OFFICIAL SS DOCUMENTATION

Compiler and CLI

Command contracts for compiler 1.0.0. The installed launcher is shown as ss; repository builds may invoke the same arguments through ss.dll.

Process status and diagnostics

ItemContract
0Operation succeeded; an integer main may provide the process status.
1Source, build, test, or runtime failure after a valid SS operation.
2Malformed invocation, unreadable input, package/project failure, I/O failure, or unavailable toolchain.

Check

Command
ss check <filename>

Runs strict UTF-8 lexical, syntax, binding, semantic, project, and installed-package checks without executing the program.

Run and REPL

Command
ss run <filename>
ss repl

run executes through the production interpreter after the same compilation path as check. The REPL retains successful declarations and supports :help, :exit, and :quit.

Build executables and libraries

Command
ss build <filename> [--target windows-x64|linux-x64|macos-arm64|dotnet]
ss build-library <filename> [--target windows-x64|linux-x64|macos-arm64|dotnet]

Native output uses the controlled MLIR/LLVM route and independent C ABI runtime. The dotnet target emits genuine .NET 10 ECMA-335 assemblies. Toolchain absence returns status 2; no interpreter fallback is substituted.

Test

Command
ss test <file-or-directory>
  [--target interpreter|native|dotnet|all]
  [--results <junit.xml>] [--coverage <coverage.json>]
  [--seed <uint64>] [--cases <count>] [--heavy]
  [--replay <token>] [--manifest <json>]

Directories discover *.test.ss in ordinal order. File/backend pairs are isolated. JUnit, coverage, deterministic generated-case replay, heavy-mode opt-in, and run manifests are explicit outputs.

Device discovery

Command
ss gpu devices

Prints compatible device metadata. Discovery alone is not proof that a kernel ran; execution reports remain authoritative for selected mode and fallback.

Package workflows

Command
ss package pack <directory>
ss package install <archive.sspkg>

Pack creates a deterministic archive from the canonical manifest and declared payloads. Install validates containment, size limits, hashes, compatibility, dependencies, and cycles before project-local extraction. It refuses to overwrite an installed version. No online registry search or restore is implied by this V1 command.

Documentation version

Language 1.0.0, compiler 1.0.0, runtime 1.0.0. This reference is generated from the official SS documentation so package and language details stay consistent with the release.
